Aims:

• To revise and consolidate vocabulary related to sports
• To encourage students to search for and find information on the topic from various sources (internet, newspaper, magazines, encyclopedias etc)
• To prompt students to work together in groups, collaborate and support each other

Procedure:

Students were prompted to search for pictures and names of ten Olympic Sports as well as the names of athletes who are famous for doing these sports. For this reason they were encouraged to use the Net (www.olympic.org), to ask their parents and their physical education instructor and to search for relevant information in encyclopedias, magazines, and newspapers.

During the next session the students had a discussion with the teacher on their findings. Then the students were separated into two groups, and the teacher explained that they had to stick the pictures they had gathered on a carton, write the names of the sports and provide information about one Olympic athlete. In the end each group presented their project in class.

3) Visit London
